Gift Guide: The Home

It's that time of year again. Time for celebrating and lots of gifts giving- yay! I personally love shopping for gifts because I get so excited just wanting to see the recipient open it. When gift giving to friends I usually go with the idea "shop for what you would want yourself" and it usually works! I have compiled my favorite gifts for the home above. Perfect for that girl that is obsessed with decorating and designing her dwelling and also the woman that loves to entertain and show off her abode! Hope you're having lots of fun gift shopping! The Christmas countdown has officially begun! xo, Alida

It's fall, it's getting chillier and chillier outside, and that means curling up on the couch with the hubby with a drink is a must. There are so many different ways to store liquor, but one of my favorite ways is with a bar cart. I like that my hubby and I can see all our glasses and alcohol so then we will actually use them all. We got so much nice and unique items for our wedding that it's nice to be able to show it all off! The bar cart we have is wood and iron- I just love the rustic, industrial look because its masculinity offsets the shine and elegance of all the glass and crystal. It's also so much fun to personalize your bar cart with accessories! Try adding trays, bottle stoppers, bottle openers, coasters and candles to put your special touch on it. Also, it's nice to show off your favorite liquors- it's best when they can tell a story and be conversation pieces- like the bottle my hubby found- Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey-we had it in Ireland last year on our trip to Europe and fell in love with it, and we were so excited to find it out here after searching everywhere for it! How do you store your liquor? What alcohol/glasses/coasters/collectables do you put on display? Hope you all have a great weekend! We are taking our little guy to the pumpkin patch for the first time- I'm really looking forward to it. xo, Alida

What I've Been Up To...

Clockwise from Top Left: Finally some sweater weather where I can order a hot coffee at Starbucks=perfection! [boots: Manas (sold out, similar here) | pants: Rag & Bone | sweater: 525 America] |  First time at the ocean with Luca. He was a huge fan of Carmel! [scarf: Paula Bianco | top: Current/Elliott] | My custom Nike's. Love them! | Stepping up my coffee table game. Very Parisian I'd say. [candle: Dyptique

Happy Wednesday! I wanted to share some pics of what I've been up to lately. I can't believe it's almost Halloween. Time is really flying by- and motherhood could not be any better. Now that we've hit the 3 month mark with Luca, it's been so much easier just like everyone says. But he has still had trouble sleeping through the night. Any advice? He is just getting so hungry and I'm breastfeeding twice, sometimes three times at night. Ugh! Mama needs her sleep :) But Luca really is just the greatest gift and my hubby and I have loved all of it- everything is new for our little guy and new for us all over again. It's just the best! We took Luca to the ocean in Carmel for the first time and he loved the feeling of sand between his toes and the breeze- it was the sweetest thing to watch. I was also excited to wear cozy sweaters in Carmel- finally! Although, I'm back home now and I'm back to warm weather still- bummer! I can't wait until it officially gets chillier here. I also just got my custom Nike's recently and I absolutely adore them. They are so comfy and I love that they are pretty unique. I wanted a dark shoe but one that had a print so I chose an almost tie dye print in a gray/black/white. So cool. And I've also been stepping up my coffee table game. I am the type of person who can never leave something in my home the same-I get anxious and need to change stuff around- I love the tray and the black Dyptique candle- just so chic. I hope you are all having the best week! xo, Alida
